Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pacific Street Legal and Regulatory P.C. dba Pacific Street Law (“Pacific Street,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information through pacificstreetlaw.com and related pages and forms (the “Site”), through emails and newsletters we send, and when you contact us about our services, events or job openings.
Scope, and How This Policy Relates to Client Confidentiality
This policy covers website and business-contact information. It does not cover information we receive in the course of representing a client. As lawyers, we owe clients duties of confidentiality under the New York Rules of Professional Conduct and other applicable professional rules, and many client communications are protected by the attorney-client privilege. Those duties are stricter than this policy and are addressed in each client's engagement letter. If this policy and our professional obligations ever conflict, our professional obligations control.
We also owe certain duties to prospective clients who consult with us about a possible engagement. Information you send before we have agreed to discuss a matter is handled as described in our Terms of Service, and we ask that you not send confidential or sensitive details until we have cleared conflicts.
Pacific Street Systems, the technology company that develops our legal technology and performs related services, is a separate company. Its products and websites are governed by its own privacy policy.
Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Contact and inquiry information: your name, email address, phone number, company, title and the content of your message, including a general description of the legal matter and the names of other parties involved (which we need to check for conflicts).
- Communications: emails, messages and call notes when you contact us, including through Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, Signal, or other platforms.
- Subscriptions and events: information you provide to sign up for our newsletters or insights, or to register for events.
- Job applications: your resume, cover letter, work history, education, bar admissions, references and any other information you choose to share when you apply to work with us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages viewed, time spent on pages, referring and exit pages, and the date and time of your visit.
- Approximate location: city, region or country, inferred from your IP address.
- Cookies and similar technologies: described in the next section.
Information from other sources
- People who refer you to us, such as clients, other lawyers or investors.
- Publicly available sources, such as company websites, professional networking sites, news reports and public registries, which we use to check conflicts and prepare for meetings.
- Service providers that help us operate the Site, such as analytics and form providers.
We do not ask for sensitive personal information through the Site (such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers or health information), and we ask that you not send it.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences and understand how visitors use the Site. The categories we use are:
- Strictly necessary: Core site functions, security and form submission. These cannot be turned off.
- Analytics: Measuring traffic and how pages are used, so we can improve the Site.
- Preferences: Remembering choices such as your cookie settings.
You can manage cookies through our cookie settings and through your browser. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. Because there is no common industry standard for “Do Not Track” browser signals, we do not respond to them separately. Information you type into our intake form or send in a message is not passed to analytics or advertising tools.
How We Use Information
- To respond to your inquiry and decide whether we can take on your matter, including running conflict-of-interest checks.
- To provide, evaluate and improve our legal services, and to manage our relationships with clients and contacts.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site, and to detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- To send newsletters, insights, event invitations and other updates you have asked for or that relate to services you use. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To consider job applicants and contract attorneys.
- To meet our legal, regulatory and professional obligations, including record-keeping and conflicts obligations, and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Technology and AI
We use technology, including AI tools developed by Pacific Street Systems and enterprise versions of third-party models, to help organize and respond to inquiries and to support our lawyers' work. When we do:
- providers that process personal information for us are bound by written agreements that limit their use of it to providing services to us and require them to protect it;
- we do not allow information submitted through the Site to be used to train public or general-purpose AI models; and
- a person, not an automated system, decides whether we take on a matter. We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing.
How We Share Information
We share personal information only as described below:
- Service providers that perform services for us, such as website hosting, form processing, email delivery, analytics, practice management, document storage, communications and IT security. They may use personal information only to provide services to us.
- Pacific Street Systems, which provides technology services to us under a written agreement that requires it to keep information confidential and use it only to provide those services.
- Professional advisers, such as our accountants, insurers and outside counsel, who are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal and safety reasons: when we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, court order or professional rules, or is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Pacific Street, our clients or others.
- Firm changes: in connection with a merger, combination or transfer of all or part of our practice, subject to our professional obligations.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell personal information. We have not sold or shared personal information in the past 12 months.
How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or longer if the law or our professional obligations require it. As a general guide:
- Inquiries that do not lead to an engagement: As long as reasonably necessary after our last contact.
- Conflict-check records (names of people and companies, and a general description of the matter): for as long as needed to meet our conflicts obligations. We may keep these even after you ask us to delete other information.
- Newsletter and event lists: until you unsubscribe
- Job applications: As long as reasonably necessary after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Analytics data: As long as reasonably necessary after our last contact.
Client files are kept according to our engagement letters, record-retention policies and professional rules.
How We Protect Information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, consistent with applicable law and the requirements of our profession. These include encryption, access controls limited to people who need the information, and security requirements for our service providers. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us over the internet. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
Your Choices
- Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or contact us. We may still send you messages about an active inquiry or engagement.
- Cookies: use our cookie settings, your browser settings or a GPC-enabled browser.
- Updating information: contact us to correct or update information you have given us.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under local privacy laws. These may include the right to:
- know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use and share it, and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and certain profiling;
- limit the use of sensitive personal information; and
- appeal our decision on your request.
Whether or not a particular law applies to us, we will consider requests from any U.S. resident. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Some requests may be limited by law or by our professional obligations, for example where we must keep conflict-check records or where information is privileged or relates to a client matter.
To make a request, email info@pacificstreetlaw.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will need to verify your identity before responding, usually by confirming information we already have. You may use an authorized agent, who must provide proof of authority. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.”
California residents may also ask, once a year, for information about any disclosure of personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing. We do not make such disclosures.
Visitors Outside the United States
The Site is intended for visitors in the United States, and we process information in the United States. If you contact us from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your information to take steps at your request before entering into an engagement, for our legitimate interests in operating our firm and the Site, to meet legal obligations, or with your consent, as applicable. You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us to exercise them.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-Party Sites and Platforms
The Site may link to other websites, and we may communicate with you through third-party platforms such as Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Signal, and others. Those companies’ privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we encourage you to read.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on the Site and change the “Last updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as a notice on the Site.
